CPCC Is a Member Run Club
The Carleton Place Curling Club is operating as member-driven, not-for-profit organization. For over 135 years the club has flourished, in large part, because of the dedicated support of member volunteers.
The CPCC Adult Curling Membership requires all members to volunteer 8 hours of their time per season to keep fees reasonable and operations running. For those members who are unable to participate in volunteer activities they have the option to pay the volunteer opt out fee at time of registration. Members with outstanding volunteer hours at the end of the season will be invoiced at $20/hr for each hour outstanding. This fee must be paid before they are guaranteed their spots for the following season.
The Board of Directors recognize there are life constraints that may affect a member's ability to volunteer and are committed to help members find a way to pitch in. We have many opportunities to volunteer all year long including:
- Committee & Work Group Participation
- Board Portfolios
- Administrative Tasking
- Bonspiel and Event Management & Support
- League Convening
- Facility Management
- Bartending
- Special Projects
All volunteer hours performed are recognized and go towards fulfilling membership minimum volunteer criteria; however doing more than the minimum is highly encouraged and appreciated. Many members contribute hours far beyond the minimum requirements. Every bit helps, whether its 4 hours or 400 hours; without those combined efforts we simply could not operate the facility.
