A Member Run Club!
The Carleton Place Curling Club is a member driven, not-for-profit corporation. For over 135 years the club has flourished, in large part, because of the dedicated support of member volunteers. They are essential to run all the Leagues, programs and events, manage and maintain the property and help keep fees reasonable. As part of the registration process members of CPCC are required to perform volunteer hours as per the Adult Registration Form, unless the opt-out option is chosen. The number of "required" volunteer hours varies depending upon the amount of curling you particpate in ranging from 2 to a maximum of 14 hours.
The Board of Directors and Volunteer Steering Committee recognize there are life constraints that may affect a member's ability to volunteer and are committted to help members find a way to pitch in. We have many opportunities to volunteer all year long inluding:
- Committee & Work Group Particpation
- Board Portfolios
- Administrative
- Bonspiel and Event Management & Support
- League Convening
- Facility Management
- Special Projects
All volunteer hours performed are recognized and go towards fulfilling membership minimum volunteer criteria; however doing more than the minimum is highly encouraged and appreciated. Many members contribute hours far beyond the minimum requirements. Every bit helps, whether its 4 hours or 400 hours; without those combined efforts we simply could not operate the facility.
